New IAHAIO Board member opportunities

The International Association of Human-Animal Interaction Organizations (IAHAIO) is the global association of organizations that engage in practice, research and/or education in animal-assisted interventions and service animal training. We have over 100 multidisciplinary member organizations and professional associations globally. Our mission is to provide international leadership in advancing the field of human-animal interaction. This is accomplished through research, education, and international collaboration. We also publish an online scientific Journal and international guidelines on many aspects of human and animal welfare in animal-assisted interventions.

This is an exciting time in IAHAIO’s development and we are looking to appoint new Board members to help drive our growth over the next few years. We are seeking people, preferably with experience at Board level or in governance, with vision, enthusiasm and time to work with the Board and our Director.

We are a multi-disciplinary organization and encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experience, such as in the human-animal bond, animal-assisted interventions (research and practice), animal behavioural science and also more widely, veterinary science, legal specialism, membership development, fundraising, communication and event management.

The role of Board members is not remunerated. There are approximately 6-10 board meetings per year plus various sub-committee meetings as needed, which usually take place online (skype or zoom). Board members are also expected to attend the Annual General Meeting and conference (in person if circumstances allow), for which travel and accommodation expenses are reimbursed.
