Next free webinar 30th November: Nature-based programs
Feeling better with birds, bees and trees: The power of nature-based education/therapy
Our next FREE webinar takes place on Thursday 30th November, 10am New York time, 3pm London time
Webinar theme
While some human service-programs specialize in providing therapy for clients with dogs or horses, increasingly providers across the world are expanding their practice to encompass a broad range of nature-based interactions to support people. Be it as an education interaction, for occupational therapy or counselling, nature and being in nature offer another unique way of connecting.
The addition of a butterfly garden, offering guided walks in nature or through observation of the wildlife that share our environment, these are examples of what nature-based interactions are all about.
Counteracting “nature deficit disorder” and applying the biophilia hypothesis, creative programs are engaging people of all ages in natural environments that combine wildlife, insects, plants and the natural environment to support quality of life and well being.
Topics include
- An overview of nature-based education/therapy
- Current research in how nature-based interactions positively benefit people
- How programs can expand to include this approach, including some notable examples
