Stephanie Perkins is the Director of Animal Therapy at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. When a young Australian Shepherd came into her life in 2000 and taught her the magic of the human-animal bond, she began the journey from dog guardian to animal therapy team, to Director of Animal Therapy.
Stephanie has a great understanding of the human-animal bond and how to utilize that relationship in harmonious interventions that benefit all participants. Combining her deep affection and respect for animals and people, Stephanie directs very successful Animal-Assisted Intervention programs for health care, educational and judicial settings.
Stephanie was awarded the Leon County Humane Society’s Purple Paw and was recognized as one of Tallahassee’s 25 Women You Need to Know for her work in Animal Therapy.
Stephanie has spent the past 20 years building and nurturing Tallahassee Memorial Animal Therapy to give it a strong foundation and great reputation. She continues her personal visits to healthcare facilities, schools, courts, and community events with her guinea pig, rabbits, and dogs.
