Mona has been passionate about the field of animal-assisted therapy and February 2023,  hosted a one-day workshop and ongoing educational group for mental health professionals in her region. She has finished level one of animal-assisted play therapy from the International Institute for animal assisted play therapy. She also wishes to establish the service of Animal-assisted therapy and help with training mental health professionals on such modalities in Egypt.

Dr Mona Ramadan Eltantawy, from Mansoura, Egypt, obtained her bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery at Mansoura University in 2013 and her master’s degree in neuropsychiatry in 2019. Dr Ramadan is currently completing her doctorate at Mansoura University.

Dr Eltantawy has seven years of experience in adult psychiatry providing cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and has conducted many support groups for medically ill patients. Dr Eltantawy also conducts research and trains mental health professionals in psychiatry.

Dr Eltantawy is an assistant lecturer of psychiatry at Damietta University in Egypt and Currently,  she is a fellow in the program of Hupert Humphery Fellowship at Virginia Common Wealth University.
