Magdalena Nawarecka-Piątek is a nationally and internationally recognized Animal-Assisted Services (AAS) instructor, with extensive expertise in standardization, education, and the welfare of working animals. She serves as the President and Team Leader of Stowarzyszenie Zwierzęta Ludziom, Poland’s largest non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing excellence in animal-assisted interventions. In her role, she designs therapeutic programs for diverse participant groups, trains handlers and their animals, and coordinates nationwide efforts to maintain high professional standards in AAS.
Magdalena’s work extends to coordinating international AAS projects that focus on creating standardized best practices for therapy and educational teams. She has co-authored several publications, including *Dogs in Animal-Assisted Therapy and Education: A Handbook for Professionals and Dog Handlers* and *Animal-Assisted Activities with Dogs: Guidelines for Basic Requirements & Knowledge*. Her recent research projects include developing screening tools for working animals, such as the Personality Assessment for Dogs in AAI (PADA) and the Feline Temperament Assessment Tool (FeTAT).
An accomplished educator, she holds degrees in social policy and pedagogy from Warsaw University and an AAS instructor certification. Fluent in Polish and English, she also contributes to international anthrozoology research and development programs.
