Join us for our next free webinar on 22nd April: Technology meets Therapy: Exploring Virtual Reality and Robotics in Animal-Assisted Services

As a complement to animal-assisted services, emerging technologies such as robot animals and VR offer promising avenues. While robot dogs have shown positive outcomes in dementia care and early pilot studies with autistic children, professionals working with real animals often question whether technology can truly replicate the human-animal bond, the sense of comfort, and the nuanced social learning that live animals provide.

This IAHAIO webinar invites participants to examine how robotics and VR can complement—not replace—animal-assisted services. The discussion will focus on their potential to expand access, provide innovative ways to engage clients, and enhance support for practitioners working in varied contexts. Through live demonstrations using a robot dog and a VR application, attendees will explore the practical and ethical implications of integrating these technologies into client care, gaining valuable insights into their potential role in enhancing AAS.

This webinar is chaired by Peter Reniers and features Richard Griffioen and Steffi van der Steen, all from The Netherlands.

It takes place on Wednesday 22nd April. 4pm London time, 5pm Netherlands and 11am EST.
